Historic Esty ranch is nestled in the Gunnison River Valley three miles north of the town of Gunnison, Colorado. This was one of the first homestead ranches established in 1880 by John B. Outcalt, who was one of the pioneers that helped establish Gunnison. The ranch was operated by the Outcalt family and its heirs for over 100 years.
The Esty Ranch and two other associated ranches in the Gunnison area are best known for growing premium Timothy Grass Hay and raising natural beef cattle. In total, Esty Ranch, the Vader Ranch and LeValley Ranch cover approximately 1397 acres.
The variety of Timothy Hay that we grow is a mix of premium Horizon variety Timothy hay, clovers and native high-mountain meadow grasses. This makes an excellent blend of feed for thoroughbred race horses, pleasure horses and ranch horses. We use pure Gunnison River water and natural rainfall to grow our Timothy Hay. The hay is harvested early for tenderness and high nutritional value.
Esty Ranch has its own class 8 tractor trucks and 53-foot flatbed trailers (one with a walking deck). We make every effort to try to deliver Timothy grass hay to you when you want it and need it. Please contact us early to schedule your delivery.
